William Davies and Associates offer intensive half-day seminars* to English Premiership football clubs only, as follows:

• Dealing with ‘difficult personalities’. Some talented people match their talents with an equally difficult and destructive personality. This seminar is about what can and cannot be done to address this, and how much success can be expected.
• Working with players who have lost their ‘form’. Having expensive players who have a sudden or gradual loss of form can cost a club tens of millions of pounds directly and indirectly. This seminar addresses the key ideas for remedying the situation and invites you to relate them to your own setting.
• The role of the chairman and directors. It is striking that some clubs retain their success even with the passage of different managers and players. Equally, some clubs have difficulty attaining success, even with a series of managers and with talented players. This seminar tries to make sense of this phenomenon.
• Supporting the manager. All boards endeavour to support their manager, they know this is the way forward. It is just that some boards do it much more effectively than others. This seminar addresses how to achieve it as effectively as possible, in your own circumstances.
• Bringing Psychology into top flight football. This seminar looks at the wisdom or otherwise of having regular input from a psychologist, what one can expect from it, and what makes it work well or badly.

*By a seminar, we mean ‘a meeting with a lot of interaction between leader and members, but also with clear content from the leader, for about 6 people’. We bring it to you, so it is not a ‘public event’, and, for our part, is confidential. So the way you set it up is to (a) decide who you want to attend the seminar (you will see that some of the seminars above are suitable for the manager and coaches, while some are suitable for the board). Then (b) find a room that is suitable for the event and (c) decide what date(s) you want. Then (c) contact us to check we can make your preferred date and to book the seminar.

We then do everything else, in that a consultant psychologist will arrive at least half an hour before the appointed time, conduct the seminar with the group you have assembled (usually about half a dozen or so), and provide delegates with hand-outs. You may also wish to decide if you want refreshments (tea/coffee etc) during the seminar and, if so, to organise that.

The cost of a half day seminar is standard, namely £2,950 plus VAT in total, for the whole group (not per person). The seminar is led by a consultant psychologist, and covers all expenses, there are no additional charges.
